View Full Version : Who do you tip at the holidays?
This is what I am planning based on what all the neighbors do since I am new to the neighborhood...
mailman (even though I think he is lousy, I want my mail which he has lost since I reported him this summer)
garbage men
dry cleaning delivery
milk man
kids guitar teacher
Was planning on $20 each. What do you all do? Trying to get an idea on what is standard. :elfsnowball:
I also tipped larger than normal amounts at the hair dresser and dog groomer this past month.

I think if I could tip my mail lady I would she is very sweet. Problem is we have 3 delivery people. 1 works only 1 day. I don't know who is on when and wouldn't want the bad one to get it lol
Did you say Milk Man? I would love to hear more on that! lol
I suppose where you live depends on who and what you would tip.
Yeah, we have milk delivery. Isn't that wild?? They bring all dairy, bread, eggs and some specialty stuff. Really it is pretty cool. It is less than the price at the store and I am using it for items that are pretty hard to get coupons on in the first place. They deliver twice a week right to the front door. Gotta love the milk man!

I didn't think the postmen could accept monetary tips since they are federal employees....

Barb, I am so in love with your milk man story lol I wish we had that service here! I seem to always be running to the store for those items.
I don't tip anyone because I guess I am to cheap :)

Does anyone remember the days of having Charles Chips delivered to your door? I wish they still did that!
I am also a bit jealous about the milkman thingy. I can just barely remember them still doing that in Texas...really shows my age because they haven't done that here in YEARS!

I've never had milk delivered, but there is a Schwan truck that comes door to door. I've never used it, but they deliver meat and other refrigerated products.

I think Schwan's is pretty expensive, but their stuff is usually very good.
For a few years we had a milkman and he delivered raw milk! That was a real convenience, but we moved and there aren't any deliveries out here. I loved them so much that I kept one of their bottles for a souvenir!
We don't have mail delivery, and our mail center ladies loved the chocolate chip cookies, so we didn't really tip anybody this year.
When I worked back office in a doctor's practice I wasn't allowed to take money tips, but I was always inundated at the Holidays with baked goods, boxed chocolates, and imported cookies! Those were the days...I had a growing boy who'd meet me at the door asking what I'd brought home...
