Instead of throwing out or cutting up mismatched sheet sets, save a twin-size fitted sheet and keep it with your picnic supplies. It fits nicely over a picnic table or even rented tables, if you are having a large gathering. You can always use a safety pin or two to tighten up the fit. It's easy to wash -- just roll up and throw in a plastic bag and take home to launder.
