The "cone" is the "cone of uncertainty" or "probable strike cone". So I guess I need to change my avatar ~

Here is the 5 PM pic ~ look at it upside down. Do you see a man in the moon sorta shape? Blue night cap on ~ yellow ear (a.k.a. Lake Okachobee) ~ below the curl of the hat is eyebrow, eye, lips and the pink ends on the chin.

Well I am the eyebrow!

Once it gets past the keys, who knows! I have seen them take 90 degree turns and head straight for us! Something about it getting into the Gulf of Mexico causes an abrupt right turn.

Meanwhile I have a school open house for DS at high school in the AM and one for DD at elementary school at 2 ~ neither have been cancelled as of yet. School starts Tuesday and I am still bugging people for interviews since I am trying to get a job as a teacher (5 years as one and 3 years off isn't helping!)

Holly...:slap: it isn't going to be a tropical depression even by the time it is through KY ~ I think in PA you should be pretty safe

They are saying our areas biggest fear is 5-7 foot storm surge. Our house is inland a few miles and we 13 feet above sea level

I just hate that it is 2 "meet the teachers" tomorrow ~ school starts Tuesday ~ I'm still hoping to have a classroom position soon, but taking the sub course just in case because $100 a day is better than nother, DH's work is restructurizing and charging his job constantly. I thought he would be gone last december ~ but 8 months later he is stucking it out

And here I am feeling sorry for myself because my basement flooded yesterday on DS's 10th birthday. It snowed here though, bet ya can't top that, lol. Snow in August, CRAZY!!

Snow! Not hail, but fluffy white snow? It got down to 32 degrees :surprised: in August?

Well the first day of school tomorrow is officially cancelled ~ rather "postponed"

BTW ~ no basements here:na:, too close to the watershed so if anything floods it is the house:cry:

I am right on the coast ~ dead center in the path!

It is only expected to be a Cat 1 and we have been through 3 ~ but still a bit scary!

YUP, white fluffy stuff. Tried to find a pic but can't so here is a clip from the paper talking about it

Young said 6 inches of snow was on the ground in the area, and snow was continuing to fall. He said the weather, which he called unique for this time of year, was making the search difficult.
"It's hard for people to imagine," Young said of the weather, "but it's Colorado."

I am thinking of you guys!

Barb ~ what altitude are you at? I remember going to the Big Island in HI and seeing people pretending to ski :slap:

BTW ~ the eye came ashore just south of us, in our county but south of us. Yesterday we had 20,000 in our county without electric, but we didn't even loose internet! Lots of downed limbs and young trees falling over. Oh, and it scared my pregnant goldfish in my pond into labor ~ not instead of 2 goldfish I have 19 (until the birds find them) ~ and they are keeping the frog eggs to a minimum!

My neighborhood is above 6000 ....Denver is 5280.

You still have frog eggs? I want some! I love doing the tadpole thing!

We had funnel clouds here yesterday. Thank god my mom was here because I had no idea what those warning sirens were. The weather here is so wild and unpredictable. MJ---has it moved on yet? I saw yesterday where it looked like it was over Orlando then
